FutureSound Presents Amaurosis

UPDATED PRESS RELEASE

London-based FutureSound announces A one-of-a-kind event devoted to the exploration of spatial sound, Amaurosis will take place at the ground-breaking EartH Theatre in Hackney, London on December 6th.

This next event will also open up a new exciting partnership with OpenLab. Founded in 2013 by electronic music pioneer, composer and DJ, Robert Miles and inspired by the creative spirit of Ibiza, OpenLab was conceived specifically to showcase the best in innovative yet accessible music and visual art.

Jimmy Kyriacou, the founder of FutureSound is dedicated to showcasing the incredible potential of music through uniting industry thought leaders, innovators and the passionately curious. FutureSound have collaborated with professional sound system manufacturer L-Acoustics and EartH to curate an event offering a deeper understanding of spatial sound and its capabilities.

Amaurosis will feature the unique 40-minute 360° sound experience in the dark by Junkerry using EartH's state-of-the-art L-ISA Immersive Hyperreal Sound Technology. This conceptual performance will see the audience wear blindfolds and be surrounded by the high-intensity sound system – taking a hiatus from the world, floating metaphorically into a new space. The underlying theme is The Art of Listening, with the project taking its name from the condition Amaurosis Fugax; a temporary loss of vision, due to tired or overworked eyes, where vision switches off momentarily.

A composer, musician and producer who fuses cutting-edge technology with her music to tell stories in innovative ways, Junkerry composes, records and produces everything at her 3D audio studio. Recognised as an artist at the frontier of spatial sound since 2014, Junkerry has worked with The Royal College of Art, Google, King’s College, NASA, The International Planetarium Society, V&A Museum, and many more.

A special guest on the night will be the award-winning British artist HANNAH MARSHALL who will introduce REEPS100 (Harry Yeff) founder of the VOICE GEMS project.

HANNAH MARSHALL is a key member of the FutureSound family & is known for creating immersive installation art which invites deeper listening and amplifies human connection.

REEPS100 is a London-born composer and new media artist who will be showcasing the inspiration behind his groundbreaking project VOICE GEMS : 1000 YEAR ARCHIVE.

VOICE GEMS is a 200,000 particle system designed by REEPS100 and Trung Bao. The generative system utilises unique features found in a human voice to generate one of a kind digital gemstones and physical sculpture.

In 2022 the project has gained global attention with features in Designboom, WIRED, FAD, Hypebeast, Wallpaper, Fast Company and physical exhibition at W1 Curates, Art Basel, Konig Gallery and Davos2022.

Opening the evening will be Natural Symphony - a live audio/visual installation that showcases the unseen connection between nature and humanity with his debut performance using spatial sound. The live performance uses plants, synthesizers, and biofeedback devices to create a soundscape that sweeps you into an immersive audio experience. As well as the live performance, attendees will be able to enjoy immersive plant-controlled visuals in an experiential environment.

Natural Symphony has been wowing audiences by performing at festivals & events this year including Glastonbury, The Royal Chelsea Flower Show, The Barbican & Wilderness Festival.

FutureSound will also welcome Guillaume Le Nost, Managing Director, L-Acoustics who will showcase the latest developments in spatial audio and the next dimension for live and virtual events.

Providing the visuals for Amaurosis will be Lucy Hardcastle Studio. Pioneers using interactive technologies, 3D visuals and moving image. Under creative director Lucy Hardcastle, the studio creates immersive virtual worlds that combine the principles of craftsmanship with the possibilities of technology. Placing an emphasis on human perception and the realm of the senses, giving its work a distinctly sensual aesthetic.

This one-of-a-kind event is not to be missed!
